Client Testimonials

"I evaluated a number of profiling tools prior to choosing the SlimKIC 2000. When coupled with the Navigator software, there just isn't a better package on the market. The ease of use and powerful predictive capability combined with the clever PWI approach made it the obvious choice. We make it a point to feature the SlimKIC 2000 as a key part of our process control."

"It's hard for someone with a good amount of experience using oven software like myself to give up so much control and let the Pilot take over everything. It wasn't easy for me at first, but I got over it in a few hours as I learned to trust the system. The time savings are phenomenal. I can teach an operator how to do a product changeover in 10 minutes, which used to take me at least 2 hours, sometimes even half a day. It used to take 3-4 hours to profile a single product. Now I can do it in one or two runs, which makes me ecstatic."

"We're very happy with our new SlimKIC 2000 with Navigator. It makes for an easy and precise oven setup. It's everything you said it was. Without having to make run after run and guessing -- two runs and I'm done!"

"I have been a KIC products user for over 8 years. During that time, I have never had to make an adjustment to meet calibration requirements of "GMP" and "ISO". Much of my work has been in the manufacturing of Medical Implantable Devices. This requires "NIST" traceability. The staff at KIC has always been innovative and responsive to my wants and needs. Thanks to all at KIC."

"We recently introduced a board into production which was difficult to profile. However, with the KIC Profiler and it's simulation capabilities, a 6 hour profiling job was completed in less than 2 hours."

"We discovered the KIC Profiling System at a time when we were just coming up the learning curve in understanding how to setup oven reflow temperatures and ramp rates. Our oven was small, and slight changes in belt speed or zone temperatures resulted in huge changes in the end profile. We could not afford to lose even one piece of hardware, so having the ability to perfect the profiles by simulation was a key feature for us. Without the KIC system, we would have had to perform multiple passes of thermocoupled boards to get the right solder reflow profile. The Profiler saved us countless hours of setup time, and protected valuable hardware from exposure to inaccurate soldering processes. In essence, we "bought" our learning curve from KIC."

"As a contract manufacturer, we are building someone else's products. As a Process Engineer, part of my job is to assure our customers that their product is in good hands and that our assembly processes are in control and within the industry calibrated guidelines. KIC provides me with the magic window to see inside our process. Confidence is a function of knowledge and understanding, and KIC is the source of knowledge."

"The KIC Prophet System has provided consistent performance & improved process control of PTI's assemblies since day one. We are in the process of purchasing a second system."

"It all began about 3 years ago. I started out with a KIC "SideKIC" profiler. It was accurate, simple to use and fast! In contract manufacturing this especially expedited our prototype business. That SideKIC was one rugged unit. I can recall on two separate occasions when a "trainee" sent the KIC through the oven WITHOUT its thermal jacket! And it lived! Overall, I would say that that single unit had 4,000 oven cycles. The two times I sent that unit in for service KIC sent us a loaner. Now that's outstanding service. Well, eventually the SideKIC went to the great-data-acquisition-place-in-the-sky. What next...would there be thermal profiling after SideKIC? Of course, SlimKIC! Yes, it's been about 6 months and it's still works great. I also upgraded the software to the windows version and now BOTH my oven and profiling software run in Windows. Walla! Time saver. It's a reliable, cost effective, service oriented solution to thermal profiling."

"I have used both Datapaq and Gold Moles in previous locations, and have KIC Prophet here. I have been very happy with the KIC in production.

We are using the wireless KIC systems throughout the facility (4 lines, 8 ovens) and it's great not to have to hard cable and dump the data into a PC after profiling. We are using the Predictive Profiling feature and find it to be extremely accurate and a great time saver. We can start with a generic profile, run the results through Prediction based on what we want to realize in the optimum profile, make the suggested changes to speed/temp and run one more time to validate. Basically two passes and we're done. We are also starting to use the Virtual Profiling function, which correlates your profile plot to the temperatures measured by the permanent KIC thermocouples mounted within the oven during actual production runs. Using this feature is a good indicator that your process is within the control limits you have established during your original profile. All of our KIC control PCs are wired into our network for printing purposes, and we are working to output the Virtual Profiling screens in real time to our intranet for 'hands-off' process monitoring. All in all a very nice system."

"We are using both the mole gold with reflow rider and wave rider, and also have recently purchased the KIC prophet and SlimKIC system.

For reflow: The mole gold software is good and very user friendly, and the prediction got us "close" to the profile. On the other hand, the SlimKIC module is great, especially not having to deal with wires, and we can pop the SlimKIC into the oven right in the middle of a production run and see the profile while the furnace is loaded (the prophet system shows us some of this info also), and the KIC reflow profiling software takes a little more getting used to, but is really not bad after a few profiles, and the auto-predict is ABSOLUTELY AWE-INSPIRING! It uses the Process Window Index to do what-if's, you tell it which parameters you allow it to modify, and so far after running a preliminary profile, the auto predict has allowed us to be on the money with the next profile, each time! I usually only get this excited after 3 mountain dew's, but it really is impressive."

"I recently had to train our entire product engineering department on the use of the SlimKIC. When I was hired they were still using the "on-board" software supplied by the oven manufacturer. They were skeptical at first and felt it wasn't needed.

Once they got the hang of it I would have to say our overall profiling quality improved 10X. We were now able to do detailed analysis of our profiles and save them to the network for customer review.

The ease of use and the ability to do profiles without having to take the oven from manufacturing (i.e. not having to run with wires) greatly improved our performance."
