KIC Press Release December 3, 1997 - "LIVE DATA OUTPUT" Allows the KIC Prophet(tm) System To Feed Real-Time Process and Profile Data Directly To SPC Application Programs

(San Diego, CA -- December 3, 1997) : KIC Thermal Profiling‘s enhanced Prophet Thermal Monitoring System can now provide data to other applications in real time, using a new KIC developed option titled "LIVE DATA OUTPUT". Now, instead of downloading pertinent product and process data for use in SPC or other programs, all thermal process and product data that the Prophet System records and calculates can now be sent to a file on a host PC or to a network as it happens, via LIVE DATA OUTPUT. This includes the probe temperatures, the virtual profile "Average Deviation" data, and "Maximum Deviation" data, and much more.

Live Data Output can also send data to another application running on the same PC as the Prophet software, via a Windows DDE, or can be sent to another computer via an RS-232 port. This new Prophet feature would typically be used to send data to SPC or Quality Control Software programs. It is a great benefit for those users who are seriously developing SPC practices to enhance the level or their product quality and production yields.

The data comes from the Prophet sensor probes. These probes are mounted inside the oven tunnel, close to the conveyor level. Each probe contains up to 15 evenly spaced thermocouples that send data to the Prophet software in real time. The Prophet software compares this real time process data to the perfect product profile and calculates a virtual profile for every product that is processed.
