PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Purchasing Agent's primary goal will be to purchase quality materials at the best value; coordinate and schedule delivery of materials to support manufacturing schedule requirements; develop and maintain vendor relationships.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, negotiate, manage and accept the purchase of standard raw material, custom materials and electronic assemblies
Vendor negotiations
Prepare purchase orders and monitor purchase order process
Use production forecasts to develop schedule for purchase orders, lead time and delivery scheduling
Expedite orders to ensure on-time delivery
Receive materials
Conduct new vendor surveys
Qualify vendors to secure cost effective sources
Develop Second Sourcing
Locate materials for new engineering projects
Conduct cost/benefit analysis to select the best vendor and most cost effective purchasing schedule
Resolve quality, pricing and service disputes

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge of purchasing fundamentals
Basic knowledge of electronic and mechanical parts
3 to 5+ years purchasing responsibility for a high-tech electronics manufacturer
Knowledge of and experience with computerized MRP/ERP systems
Strong organizational, planning and negotiation skills
Ability to work without supervision
Strong interpersonal skills, time management skills and proven problem solving abilities
Ability to lift 35 pounds

PREFERRED SKILLS

Knowledge of and experience with JIT scheduling
Knowledge of and experience with KanBan controls
Experience with global purchasing and support of multiple global locations
